Throughout this portfolio, I hope to display with full transparency who I am as an educator and why I have chosen the field of education as a profession.

Throughout all my years of schooling and training to become a teacher, I have been able to identify both my strengths and weaknesses in terms of educating others which has proved to be useful in my journey of developing into the best individual I can be. I have found that I have exceptional preparation and organizational skills that prove to be quite useful within the field of education, as well as my able to display excellent professionalism. I have also found that I have great time and classroom management while teaching. However, I have also found that I need to work on my adaptability and teaching presence within the classroom as due to my personality have a harder time adjusting on the fly and appearing “too authoritative”, but with this being said I have been able to identify my weaknesses and take steps to work on improving them.

In terms of my teaching philosophy, my common theme often surrounds the concept of putting the students first. Whether this be in regards to teaching methods, assessing students, or managing the classroom, I am a firm believer that everything we do needs to reflect the best interests of our students.

This is also reflected in my management plan as the students need to be our number one priority. More specifically, within my management plan I am a huge believer in the student’s safety which is set through early classroom expectations which need to be followed up on a consistent basis. Everything that is done in terms of managing my classrooms either tend to be due to safety of the students or developing their skills both inside and outside of the classroom.
