Tryout Philosophy

Tryout Overview

For both our Spring and Summer tryouts, each individual will receive the opportunity to demonstrate their baseball skills and knowledge through various drills, testing evaluations, and game-like scenarios.

Spring tryouts will usually take place over a span of 2-3 days depending on the amount of players trying out, while Summer tryouts will usually take place over the span of one day over a couple hours.

All players will receive the same opportunities to demonstrate their ability as a baseball player and will be evaluated on a number scale to help with a fair, accurate, and thorough selection process.

On the last day of tryouts, all of the coaches will meet to determine the final roster for the upcoming Spring/Summer season. When final rosters are made, all of the players will be informed individually in-person on whether or not they made the team.

Tryout Structure

- All players will receive a 3 digit number to help them be identified by any coach making evaluations.

- All skill evaluations will be made on a number scale of 1-5.

- All players will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to run, hit, throw, field, etc. with definitive data to support their skill (throwing velo, exit velo, 60 yd dash, etc.).

Opportunities For Cut Players

I am a firm believer in providing opportunities for kids to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Because of this belief, any players who do not have the privilege to make the team have the opportunity to take on various roles within the program.

While these individuals do not get to practice with the team, they will receive still be held to the same program standards (grades, behavior, etc.) as everyone else. These students can earn program gear (hats, shirts, etc.) and will be recognized at the end of year banquet. In order for each student to partake in these roles they must get written consent and approval from their parents (especially if the role requires any form of travel).

Some of these roles could include...
team manager,
team photographer, graphic designer, analytics division, scouting department, grounds crew, and press box personnel.
